Whole School Assembly December
Today we celebrated our last whole assembly of 2023.
To begin with Junior and Senior Infants taught us about the artist Paul Klee and showed us their very own interpretations of his famous paintings 'Cat and Bird' and 'Castle and Sun'. We were all very impressed with the children's art!
Next, we celebrated Advent and the Students Council explained the significance of the different coloured candles in the Advent Wreath and we took a closer look at the Crib which is on our Advent table at the front of the school.
We celebrated 5th and 6th class students whose project made it through to the regional finals for INTEL Young Scientist competition. They explained their project on the importance of recognising the good and bad sugars in the food we eat to the rest of the school. Their project was very informative.
We recognised and celebrated our Junior and Senior Infants completion of a 6 week Forrest School's programme. Each child explained their favourite part of the programme and received a certificate for their completion of the course.
Our Green Schools Committee presented information on our progress in attaining a Green Flag for water. They talked us through all of the informative videos and websites which provide tips and ideas to conserve our use of water in school and at home. These are available to view on our school website under the Green Schools tab.
Finally, we ended our assembly with some Christmas Maths word problems which were displayed on the interactive white board. The children solved these together and then created similar word problems for their peers to solve. Mathematical word problem solving is part of our School Self-Evaluation.
